08/19/2003: "A Great Summer Activity for the Kids!"

Doing some research at the library the other day, I ran across a book that would make for a great project for the children on a rainy summer day. The book was “Presidential Sex: From the Founding Fathers to Bill Clinton.” The exercise, of course, is to calculate Sher Ratios for various Presidents. As you will recall from our July 30 entry, the Sher Ratio is that historian’s tool for assessing the amount of extracurricular sex a President enjoyed in comparison to any resulting scandal. I theorized that JFK had the highest finite value and Bill Clinton the lowest. This new resource allows your children to “peer review” my assessment (as you’ve doubtless noticed, I’m still a child at heart). What’s that you’re saying? It’s not appropriate to expose children to such matters? I can only point to the example provided by the Big-C Conservative legislators who made the Clinton-Monica encounters a front page issue for what was it, a year? Considering that they are the self-proclaimed arbiters of family values, their idealistic quest for justice in this matter must clearly have been motivated in large part to present a sterling example to the next generation of moral behavior in action. Are we to let this invaluable learning experience languish? It is our responsibility as parents to ensure that the insight to be provided by close scrutiny of Presidential sexcapades is maintained as an essential component of the Big-C Conservative legacy to posterity!
